MC Theater
In the Zuiveringshal Oost, which used to be a depot for cyanide and other foreign substances on the site of the former gas works Westergasfabriek Amsterdam, MC has built a theatre where a new chemistry emerges from music, dance, performance and other art forms, always with theatre at heart. The new MC Theatre is the very own theatre of the MC metropolitan house of culture, which also programmes and facilitates other festivals and events on the premises. Architectural firm MOKO OMAHA designed a modern transparent theatre for MC inside the historic industrial hall, where you can see the creative process unfolding. Starting from the final draft by MOKO OMAHA, architectural firm Koldeweij made a new design on the basis of which MC had its theatre built. Joost Koldeweij was responsible also for supervising the building process as executive architect.
The public inauguration of the MC Theatre took place on
Saturday 16 October 2010.
